Aussie fruit flag recipe
Are you looking for a fancy platter for your Australia Day celebrations? The weather is still warm so lay out this flag pattern with fresh berries and honeydew and you'll have the crowd yelling Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
- 3 punnets blueberries
- 1 punnet raspberries
- 1 honeydew melon
- star cookie cutters, 1 large and 1 small
On a rectangular platter, spread out blueberries to make a large rectangle.
In the top left corner of the blueberry rectangle make a cross of raspberries (open side down).
Use more whole and halved raspberries to create two diagonal lines through the cross..
Using a sharp knife, cut 5mm slices of honeydew melon. Using a variety of star cutters, cut out one large star and five smaller stars for the Southern Cross.
Trim one of these smaller stars slightly to make it smaller than the rest. Place these in formation on the blueberry background.
Cut thin strips of honeydew to line the area around the raspberries.
- You can use strawberries for the red portion of the flag if you can’t get hold of raspberries.
